During Houston's 1980s boom, Baker was invited to assist on the Republic Bank building, a major project in downtown Houston. In 1981, Baker's Southern Operations were established. Our Southern Operations complete projects under two divisions, Southern Industrial and Southern Commercial. These divisions work throughout Texas and the Gulf Coast as well as travel nationally along with other divisions for key clients and special projects.
Southern Industrial
Industrial work has been installed by the Houston group for over 22 years. The focus on industrial service results from the high population of petrochemical and refinery plants, heavy manufacturing, and power and infrastructure work in the Gulf Coast.
The Southern Industrial group specializes in earthwork, utilities, formwork, reinforcement, and concrete place and finish. The teams also provide a range of preconstruction services including budgeting, scheduling, design assist, and constructability consulting. The group works in a variety of sectors including energy facilities (gas, coal, electric, wind, nuclear, and alternative fuels); manufacturing facilities (mechanical, chemical, paper and pulp); and civil infrastructure (water treatment plants, ports, and terminals).
Southern Commercial
The Southern Commercial group focuses on providing total package concrete services for all types of commercial and institutional structures, including but not limited to airports, garages, hospitals, hotels, schools, and stadiums. This work is supplemented by individual formwork and concrete place and finish services. As with Southern Industrial, this team is experienced in all markets in which Baker performs and provides the same first-rate package of preconstruction services.
