Baker Awards
March 2012Baker has earned significant recognition with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) this year. On January 27, Baker earned First Place for Safety Excellence in AGC of Ohio''s Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) competition, and even more gratifying, Baker was chosen among a select few to represent our safety program at AGC''s National CSEA competition. After formally presenting our Incident and Injury Free (IIF) program to the panel of AGC judges, we were officially awarded Second Place in the Specialty Division, over 1 million work hours category.
The judges examined the IIF program in total, our co-worker involvement in IIF, our new methods for promoting safety, our overall commitment to safety, and our safety results over the past year.
Our Incident and Injury Free (IIF) journey started in 2006. Baker believes that success is driven by the commitment of our workforce to live IIF. IIF is about people. IIF is about relationships. IIF is Our Way of Life.
February 2012Baker was awarded the 2011 Golden Trowel® Award at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2012. The award, presented by the Face Companies, recognizes contractors for installing "the flattest and most level floor slabs placed in the world." Baker received the award in the Vibrating Truss Screed Over 22'''' Wide category for the installation of a concrete slab at the Boeing Fabrication Building in North Charleston, SC.
January 2012The AGC of Ohio announced Baker as a winner in the specialty division for the Ohio Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) at the Safety Awards luncheon in January 2012.
The CSEA recognizes companies that have developed and implemented premier safety and loss prevention programs.

January 2012The ACI Louisiana Chapter hosted its 14th Annual Awards &;;; Installation Banquet on Friday, January 20, 2012. At the ceremony, Baker received an Award of Excellence for the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway Bypass Gate project in the special category. One of the highlights mentioned about the project was the fact that it was strategically designed with six internal compartments that can be ballasted by the permanent on-board pumps for submersion during a major storm event.
November 2011The Deloitte Cincinnati USA 100 program recognizes outstanding achievements of the Cincinnati area''''s privately-owned businesses. Baker is honored to be ranked #10 in the 2011 Deloitte Cincinnati USA 100 program.
October 2011Associated Builders and Contractors (Greater Houston Chapter) selected Baker for two 2011 Excellence in Construction awards. Baker was awarded an ICE award for the Lubbock Wind Ranch project and a Merit award for the TECO East Chiller Building project. These awards are based on entry criteria that included safety, innovation, community/industry contribution, construction quality, and function and aesthetic quality of design.
July 2011Baker ranked #1 in Concrete Construction''s 2011 Top 100 Concrete Contractor list. March 2011On Wednesday, March 16, 2011, Baker was awarded by the Texas District Office of Skanska, the 2010 Supplier of Choice Award.
Baker was evaluated based on the company's performance on five projects - three Texas A&;M University projects and two Harris County projects - and some of the core values Baker shares with Skanska such as Safety, Quality and Integrity.

February 2011At the 12th Annual Allied Construction Industries (ACI) / OSHA Safety Day on February 15, 2011, Baker was presented with two safety awards - ACI Employee Safety Award, and Safety Innovation Award.
John Schroeder, NOPS Superintendent, was selected as an ACI Employee Safety Award recipient based on his commitment and dedication to safety.
Baker received the Safety Innovation Award for both the Powerline Awareness Safety Tour (PAST) - visiting the PAST to ensure the future, and the Fall Protection entries that were submitted. The PAST Road Show reached 1,600+ coworkers and contractors. Baker''s intention with the PAST Road Show was to raise awarness with the hazards associated with energized utilities;; and the personal responsibility and accountability we should all have for each other.
January 2011Baker was named Sponsor of the Year by the SC/NC Annual ShowFest Convention through the "Stars of the Carolinas" award which recognized the Aiken Chamber''s annual Aiken''s Makin'' arts and crafts show.
The Sponsor of the Year award recognizes the business, civic, or service organization whose outstanding support sets an example for others in the community.
November 2010The AGC of Ohio (http://www.agcohio.com/ ) selected Baker for a 2010 Build Ohio award in recognition of its work on the Great American Tower. The building is the tallest building in Cincinnati, Ohio. The award was presented at the annual Build Ohio Gala in Columbus, Ohio on November 19, 2010.
October 2010Baker ranked #1 in the 2010 Top 20 Concrete Specialty Contractors in Engineering News Record published on October 11, 2010. Baker has been ranked in the top 3 of the Top 20 Contractor Specialty category since 1989.

August 2010Baker''''s Southern Operations was awarded the prestigious Associated Builders and Contractors (www.abc.org) Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) award.
This award represents a significant achievement in safe work practices.
July 2010Baker awarded SMPS National Marketing Communications Awards The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) (www.smps.org) awarded Baker in four 2010 National Marketing Communications Award categories.
The awards were presented at the SMPS annual conference on July 15, 2010.
July 2010Baker Receives Outstanding Subcontractor Award from Turner Construction Company Baker has been selected as a recipient of a 2009 Outstanding Subcontractor Award from Turner Construction Company.
Turner''s on-site project management teams nominate subcontractor''''s for these prestigious awards. The awards are based on overall job performance. Baker was selected in particular for the work on the Queen City Square Tower Project.
April 2010The Central Florida Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (www.abccentralflorida.com) presented Baker with the 2010 TEAM Award.
The TEAM (Training, Education, and Management) Award, also known as ABC''s Education Award, is the Central Florida Chapter''s way of recognizing its members for their outstanding training programs.
April 2010Baker was honored to receive the Charles S. Whitney Medal at the American Concrete Institute Spring Conference (www.concrete.org).
The award is presented to those companies "for taking a leadership role among contractors and concrete practitioners in contributing to the improvement of the reinforced concrete construction industry through significant participation, and leadership in the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Concrete Contractors."
April 2010Baker''s Founder/President/C.E.O., was honored to receive ACI''s Honorary Membership at the American Concrete Institute Spring Conference (www.concrete.org).
The award is presented to those individuals "for his outstanding leadership in the preparation of the ACI Fellowship Program and his many other contributions to ACI including his outstanding leadership of the Institute and providing an example to other concrete contractors as to the benefits of membership in the American Concrete Institute."
March 2010The Baker jobsite team at the Linde Hydrogen Plant project recently received the Air Product''''s Safety Excellence Award for 40,000 safe hours worked in 2009.
March 2010Doug McNames, Baker VP, was awarded the Outstanding Service Award by the American Subcontractor''s Association (https://www.asaonline.com) at the 2010 Annual ASA Meeting. Doug was recognized for his contribution and dedication to improving business and construction for subcontractors nationwide.
Doug currently serves as President of the ASA Ohio Chapter and is Chair of the Task Force on Contract Documents.
February 2010Baker was recently awarded the Allied Construction Industtries (ACI) (www.aci-construction.org) 2009 Safety Innovation Award at the ACI/OSHA Safety Day Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Awarded in recognition of Baker''s successful Incident and Injury Free (IIF) program, the award is a result of Baker''s coworkers'' desire and passion for safety.
Also, at the event, Baker Superintendent, Jack Farmer, was awarded ACI''s 2009 Employee of the Year Award in recognition of leading by example during his 30-year tenure at Baker.
December 2009At the recent award ceremony in Dallas, Texas, McGraw-Hill Construction''s Texas Construction recognized Baker for our work at the Golden Pass LNG Terminal project. The two awards received were for Best in Category (Best Civil/Public Works), and Best Overall/Judges Award for the Best of 2009 Awards.
November 2009Baker was awarded the prestigious Eagle Award in the category of Concrete, Commerical - $10 to $20 million for the Hilton Grand Vacation Club Ruby Lake Resort Tower 100 for the 2009 Central Florida ABC Excellence in Construction Awards.
The Hilton Grand Vacation Club Ruby Lake Resort is a $155 million, two-tower, 956,000 square feet, 312 room resort located in the city of Orlando, Florida. Baker had the opportunity to perform the cast-in-place concrete for the 14-story towers for the resort''s construction manager, Turner Construction Company.
November 2009Baker is pleased to announce that the Golden Pass LNG Terminal project was recently awarded the ICE Award for Associated Builders and Contractors'' Excellence in Construction (Houston Chapter). This award is the highest in its category and was based on entry criteria that included safety, innovation, community/industry contribution, construction quality, and function and aesthetic quality of design. Baker plans to submit the project into ABC''s national competition.

Baker''''s contract consisted of a total package containing five (5) complete LNG containment tanks, slabs, walls and concrete roofs.

June 2009Dan Baker, President/CEO, was named a winner in the Ernst &; Young 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year competition for south central Ohio and Kentucky. The award is presented to senior-level business leaders who inspire others, have a proven track record of achievement, and continue to build, lead, and grow dynamic businesses. Dan was quick to reference the many people who have helped him throughout his career including his grandfather, Elmer Baker, who helped instill the fundamental values that lead Dan and Baker Concrete still today. Dan was selected from among 23 regional finialists. Other winners announced included: Steven Fishman, Big Lots Inc.;; Simon Hay, dunnhumby USA;; David Schottenstein, Astor and Black Custom Clothiers;; Claude Davis, First Financial Bancorp;; Gil Delgado, Emergint Technologies;; Eugene Cooke III, Cold Jet LLC;; Dana Bowers, iPay Technologies LLC;; and Greg Tunney, R.G. March 2009The AGC of Ohio selected Baker to receive the Ohio Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) in the Specialty Division category for a company with over 1 million work hours.
February 2009Baker's Northern Operations Manager Dennis Knose recently received the 2008 Employee of the Year Safety Award from Allied Construction Industries (ACI). This award was designated for individuals that affect safety at the jobsite level. Dennis received his award at the ACI Safety Day on February 24, 2009.
February 2009Baker was awarded the 2008 Golden Trowel Award at this year''''s World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada. The award, presented by the Face Company, recognizes concrete contractors for installing "the flattest and most level floors in the world." Baker received the award in the Special Category for the installation of the ZMax Dragway in Concord, NC. The project required more than 55,000 square feet of concrete drag strip, and required an extremely smooth, and level surface.

The Mosaic on Hermann Park project was recently awarded the prestigious Texas Construction Best of 2008 Award of Merit in the Multifamily category. The Baker project, along with its outstanding Team, were recognized on Tuesday, 12/9, during the 5th Annual Texas Construction Best of Awards Luncheon.
September 2008Baker is pleased to announce that the Mosaic on Hermann Park project located in Houston, Texas, recently won the prestigious Texas Construction Best of 2008 Merit Award in the multi-family category. Baker recently completed the total concrete package for the project in February, 2008, and nominated this project for the award. This upscale residential complex is the largest residential high-rise tower in the Houston area. The project will be featured in the December issue of Texas Construction magazine and honored in the same month at a Houston awards luncheon.

June 2008Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) (www.abc.org) announced their 2008 Excellence in Construction awards. Baker received the Pyramid Award for the Cameron LNG Tanks project in the Other Specialty Construction category.
February 2008The Business Courier (of Cincinnati) announced the finalists for their sixth annual 2008 Greater Cincinnati's Best Places to Work program. Baker was selected as one of this year's finalists. A luncheon will be held on November 6th at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center to announce which companies rank the highest in employee satisfaction in the Greater Cincinnati area.
February 2008Baker is awarded the 2008 Indiana Chapter American Concrete Institute (ACI) Award (www.aci.org) for work on the Indianapolis Colts Stadium in the Cast-in-Place Concrete Structure category.
